Paul Backer
Paul is a graduate of Second City Conservatory, Brave New Workshop and Annoyance Improv and sketch comedy schools. He has a BFA in Acting and Directing from Mesa State College. He has been providing comedy (usually with his wife Susie as the comedy duo “Pusie”) for burlesque shows across the country since 2005.  He first performed with Girlie-Q as the “Fairy Craigster”, the patron saint of Craigslist, in our Delight Before Christmas Show, where his fondness for showing off his huge package was revealed.  During the development of the show, Paul and wife Susie (along with guest star Special K) wrote most of the dialogue and bits.  He recently played Nigel in Hot N’ Heavy’s Burlesque Tribute to Spinal Tap and will be gracing the stage as Walter in Vaudezilla’s “Rollin’ Outta Here, Naked: A Big Lebowski Burlesque” this fall. He just realized he should say something funny so……. amalgamated platypus Titticaca.  He is a member of the Girlie-Q ensemble.

Queerella Fistalot, Part Boy, Part Girl
Queerella is Girlie-Q’s punk rock explosion.  Featuring edgy acts that push at boundaries, Queerella will definitely scare the pants off you while making you so hot that you won’t be able to control yourself.  She favors acts that feature genderfuck, pounding music, and her large red dildo (now banned from at least one venue!).  In her spare time, she is a theatre major and a writer at Columbia College Chicago and her first original choreopoem/play, Deliver Me from Evil, was produced by Pegasus Players last winter and is a winner of the 2010 Young Playwrights Inc. National Playwriting Competition.  Her play will be produced by Stephen Sondheim in New York City in winter 2011.

Deeply connected to her Native American and Arabian roots, her style of Egyptian bellydance reflects and honors her heritage. Performing as a solo dancer as well as with many dance ensembles, rock bands and her own percussion group, Laila draws her energy in dance from the Earth and opens up to become a vessel for the tribal music to flow through.  Laila is Girlie-Q’s resident Egyptian bellydancer.
